It is an honour and privilege to assume the role of the inaugural Chair of the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation's Board of Directors. As I step into this pivotal position, I am filled with hope and determination to advance the Foundation's mission of empowering Indigenous entrepreneurs and fostering economic prosperity.
In my journey as an entrepreneur, I've had the privilege of witnessing the extraordinary talents and potential of Indigenous entrepreneurs across Canada. I have also witnessed the systemic barriers and challenges that have held them back for far too long. My experience as the Founder and CEO of Virtual Gurus and VG OnDemand has provided me with invaluable insights into the challenges marginalized communities face in business, society, and the workforce.
From my own experiences as an Indigenous Cree-Métis and 2SLGBTQIA entrepreneur, I understand the profound impact that systemic barriers can have on one's professional path. These barriers are not only obstacles to individual success but also hindrances to the collective prosperity of Indigenous communities.
The Indigenous Prosperity Foundation holds a transformative vision for Canada's Indigenous population. Our mission is clear: to establish a thriving and inclusive Indigenous economy grounded in Indigenous values. We aim to ensure that every Indigenous person has the support and resources to fulfill their potential and, in doing so, lift others along the way.
To achieve this mission, we are committed to providing digital access, training, mentorship, and funding to underserved Indigenous peoples across Canada. We recognize that true empowerment comes not from charity but from providing the tools and opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs to thrive on their terms.
The Indigenous Prosperity Foundation is more than just a foundation. It is a catalyst for change, a beacon of hope, and a driving force for Indigenous prosperity. It is a movement that seeks to redefine the landscape for Indigenous entrepreneurs and ensure their voices are not only heard but celebrated.
Our vision is clear: we envision a future where Indigenous entrepreneurs are at the forefront of innovation, where Indigenous-led businesses are thriving, and where Indigenous communities are empowered to shape their economic destinies.
But this vision cannot be realized in isolation. We invite industry leaders, organizations, and individuals to join us at the table. It is an open invitation to collaborate, learn, and take action. We can leverage this important foundation as a vehicle for making a lasting impact on Indigenous prosperity in Canada.
We encourage all who share our vision to reach out and explore how you can contribute. Together, we can amplify our collective impact and bring about positive change.
In closing, I want to express my deep gratitude to the IPF Board of Directors for entrusting me with the role of Chair of the Board of Directors of the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation. I am excited about the journey ahead and committed to uplifting Indigenous prosperity and creating a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
This is our moment to make a difference, to break down barriers, and to pave the way for Indigenous entrepreneurs to thrive. Together, we will write a new chapter in the history of Indigenous prosperity, and I am honoured to be a part of this transformative journey.
