Driven by a vision that transcends personal success, Bobbie Racette began creating opportunities in 2016 for those often marginalized or overlooked due to geographic constraints and other challenges.
In 2017, she launched Virtual Gurus with just $300 and a splash page, setting the stage for a groundbreaking talent-as-a-service platform that uses machine learning and human expertise (and now AI) to connect remote assistants with businesses facing employment barriers. This platform has notably empowered First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, veterans, and residents of remote areas.
By 2018, Virtual Gurus skyrocketed to an eight-figure enterprise, becoming one of Canada’s top-growing companies. Despite facing 170 rejections, Bobbie’s resilience transformed those challenges into fuel for success, securing essential funding and scaling the business.
Bobbie was the first Indigenous woman in Canada to close a Series A funding round, raising $8.4 million. She has also increased the company's valuation to $40 million.
Under her leadership, Virtual Gurus has become one of North America’s leading virtual assistant providers and the largest in Canada. Her proprietary technology supports a vibrant community of over 800 professionals from diverse backgrounds. Bobbie’s groundbreaking strategies in talent management have garnered numerous awards.
A relentless advocate for equity and inclusion, Bobbie’s enthusiasm and dedication inspire many to aspire to change. As a celebrated speaker and thought leader, she continues to push for a more equitable future, sharing her experiences and insights widely.
